I am delighted to have been elected Labour and Co-operative Councillor by Bearton.
I have a passion for fairness and want to be part of making a positive change in our community.
I have lived in Hitchin since 1988. I brought up my daughter here and I am still a Governor at William Ransom School. I have supported local campaigns such as Save Top Field.
I am proud of our town and North Herts. But I am ashamed of the way that our Council has been run. Like the Government, the Conservative led Council in North Herts is split on key issues, such as Hitchin Town Hall. They are divided by in-fghting and personal attacks. We deserve a better Council.
I am committed to a fairer society, believing that things work best when ordinary people have a voice and when services are accountable to the people who use them.
Labour Councillors will be introducing an extensive 20mph zone in Bearton ward this summer. Labour Councillors have got roads resurfaced, rubbish and graffiti removed and street lights repaired. I will continue this good work with colleagues and look forward to working with all the community over the next four years.
