Branch members vary widely in experience, age, ethnic origin and working lives, all of which contributes to lively debates and passionate areas of interest.
Hitchin Branch campaigns on a wide range of national issues such as cuts in public services and the future of the NHS, but is also concerned with many local government issues as it forms an important hub of local councillor activists. Labour Councillors deal with District-wide issues such as a district council uninterested in real provision for housing needs and deaf to calls for improved re-cycling services such as kerb-side plastics collections. They also campaign in their wards for improved community facilities, play areas safe for small children and streets clear of dog mess and obstacles for people with pushchairs and wheelchairs.
Hitchin Labour Party supports the Save Top Field campaign.
